VVREO Introduction: The Verde Valley Regional Economic Organization (VVREO) is a regional collaborative dedicated to economic vitality for the Verde Valley. VVREO was established in 2006 as a public/private partnership and 501 (c) 6 non-profit organizations to provide a unified voice for regional economic development issues. Its Board of Directors represents cities and towns, unincorporated areas, private industry, the Yavapai Apache Nation, and Yavapai College. VVREO helps lead, guide, and implement the region’s economic development strategies and initiatives.  

 

VVREO has achieved some key accomplishments over the past few years include:  

 

  • Initiated a quarterly online seminar series to support local economic development. 

 

  • Led a regional strategic planning process and creation of the Verde Valley Regional Economic Development Strategic Plan in 2025 

 

  • Provided over $1,600,000 in loan funds for local small businesses; 

 

  • Actively participated in the work that resulted in ADOT funding for the 260 expansion; 
    Supported the establishment of regional organizations such as the Verde Valley Wine Consortium and Verde Valley Agriculture Coalition; and  

 

  • Awarded “Small Economic Development Organization of the Year” by Arizona Association of Economic Developers (AAED) in 2007 and 2010.

VVREO seeks professional services for the role of Executive Director. 

 

This is a part-time contract position of 45-50 hours a monthThe selected individual should reside in the Verde Valley. 

 

The Executive Director (ED) works under the direction of the VVREO Executive Committee (EC) in conjunction with strategic planning priorities established by the Board of Directors. In general, professional services include community and stakeholder engagement, education, Board support, relationship building, marketing management and collaboration with VVREO Loan Manager. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

  • Relationship management – Build and maintain productive relationships with partners, community leaders, businesses, and stakeholders with the purpose of advancing VVREO’s strategic plan. Identify and garner support of partners and stakeholders that align with and move VVREO’s vision forward. This includes YCERA, Verde Front, Yavapai County, Yavapai College Regional Economic Development Center, and Economic Development professionals in all the communities in the region. 

 

  • Community Engagement and Coordination – Facilitate and convene virtual and in-person discussions and events to address issues and solutions for economic development. Present and inform at key regional events. Deliver and coordinate the presentation of the region’s strategic vision, inclusive of relevant data to support the Strategic Plan. This includes quarterly webinars on economic topics relevant to the region, and one annual, in person, economic forum event, as well as participating in events led by partners. 

 

  • Board Member Collaboration – Identify and work collaboratively with board members and their skills for effective implementation of the Strategic Plan. 

 

Organizational Management - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

  • Board and Committee support – Provide support to the Board and Committees. This includes scheduling, meeting preparation (agendas and minutes), and new member orientation.   Provide monthly reports as part of the Executive Committee and prepare monthly Board packets. 

 

  • Customer service – Provide customer service to board members, community members, partners, and stakeholders. Assist boards and commissions with data and information as requested. Draft support letters for member community projects.  Provide support to applicants of the VVREO loan program.  

 

  • Communication – Communicate regularly with the Board and Executive Committee on items of regional importance. Act as a liaison between the organization, the public, local media, and social media to ensure that VVREO remains top of mind. Monitor and respond to emails and social media inquiries and provide direction to VVREO’s Marketing contractorWork with VVREO Board of Directors to deliver a quarterly email newsletter. 

 

  • Fundraising – Work with sponsors, identify and secure financial contributions. Write grants to support VVREO strategic initiatives as needed. 

 

  • Coordination with VVREO’s accountant to ensure timely payment of invoices, issuance of invoices and receipts, and correctness of financial statements. 

 

  • Compliance – Ensure compliance with State and Federal reporting requirements, including SAM Registration and ACC filings. 

 

  • Systems oversight – ensure VVREO’s core business systems are properly maintained, including Microsoft Office 365, Dropbox and/or OneDrive for document management, Constant Contact for customer relationship management. 

 

  • Website oversight - Work with the contracted Web Developer to ensure content is up to date with general VVREO information, new board members, and events.
