POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for creating and maintaining the credit culture of the division. This responsibility includes enforcing loan policy, approving new loans, recommending loan structures, monitoring credit concentration limits, and managing past due loans. This position will also coordinate external loan audits, internal and external loan review programs, annual reviews by credit department personnel, and collateral documentation review systems. This position monitors the company’s risk grading system, monitors critical asset levels through action plan implementation activities, and manages non-accruals, other real estate owned, and foreclosure actions.

This position may be based at any of our branch locations, including Prescott, Prescott Valley, Phoenix, Tucson, Casa Grande, Yuma, Flagstaff, Bullhead City, Cottonwood, Lake Havasu, Kingman.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports monthly to the division board on the credit quality of the overall portfolio.
  • Attends Executive Loan Committee as a voting member and represents Division in GBCI projects and subcommittees as requested.
  • Interprets and provides written analysis of credit-related reports provided to the business lending staff.
  • Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate.
  • Maintains a strong credit culture within the commercial and retail lending operations.
  • Coordinates the company’s credit underwriting and delinquency follow up.
  • Participates in or actively leads special projects pertaining to credit administration or other company-wide initiatives.
  • Assembles information and reports pursuant to regulatory exams and outside audits.
  • Provides guidance to loan officers and credit analysis staff on the company’s overall lending policy, noting significant trends and recommending policy changes if necessary.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience would generally be required, including time spent in preparatory positions.
  • A college degree in finance, accounting, or business. Graduate studies in business, finance, or banking preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability (Other Skills):

  • The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
