Fall Festival @ Slide Rock State Park
Slide Rock State Park in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon is holding its Annual Fall Festival Saturday Oct. 4, 2014 from 9am to 3:30. This year?s theme is ?Homecoming at the Homestead?. Join the celebration with local bird expert Dena Greenwood who will present the talk, How I first fell in love with birding: The birds of Slide Rock and will lead a bird walk through the park in the morning. Musical guest, Jack Wilden brings his country entertainment to the barn. Patty West, botanist, will lead a plant walk. Story teller and musician, Tony Norris will capture the spirit of Oak Creek Canyon in story and song. Slide Rock State Parks? homestead history comes alive with the park?s own, Kathy Pendley Shaw who will present a talk and demonstrate the original apple sorting machine. Come see the restored original homestead tractors, blacksmith demonstrations by William Weathersby, exhibits in the 1932 apple packing shed including annual bake sale and raffle. Junior Ranger Station kid?s activities, face painting, exhibits by Arizona State Parks, The National Forest Service, Oak Creek Watershed, One less Spark, and more. The day wraps up at 3:30 pm with the annual tractor parade. So bring a picnic and come enjoy Fall Fest at Slide Rock State Park. Your state park entry fee gets you into this event.
