Northern Arizona Hospice announces spring volunteer training in March
Northern Arizona Hospice announces its spring training program for individuals interested in becoming a hospice volunteer. The 20-hour program is taught over the course of five days with four-hour sessions taking place March 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12. Each class builds upon previous classes, and potential volunteers must attend all five classes to graduate. Classes will bein Conference Room B at Verde Valley Medical Center, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood.
The 20-hour program covers a wide range of topics including but not limited to the physical, spiritual and emotional experience of the terminally ill patient; effective and compassionate communication; legal and practical matters; infection control; and self-care for caregivers.
Ten presenters from a wide range of disciplines each bring their own unique style and expertise to the program. Presenters include Northern Arizona Hospice Medical Director Devin Mikles, M.D., nurses, social workers, a physical therapist and a relaxation expert among others.
Northern Arizona Hospice was founded in 1984, and is the only nonprofit hospice in the Verde Valley/Sedona area.
