Bopper's Chuck Wagon Dinner
On October 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 the Clemenceau Heritage Museum will have a Chuckwagon dinner prepared by the Cannon Family. Come join us on the front lawn of the historic Clemenceau School Building located at 1 North Willard. Participates get to watch the food be prepared on an outdoor fire and in Dutch ovens (full wagon included), they will also get to watch homemade ice cream being made with a hit-and-miss engine. After preparations comes the good part: getting to sit down and eat the cowboy meal with friends and family while listening to a cowboy guitar player singing around a camp fire. The Cannon Family Chuckwagon is a truly family affair. Bopper, Robin, Keith, and sometimes, Amanda, Hyatt, Jacob, and other family members, compete and cook for various competitions and events, ranging from the Southern Part of Arizona, to the Grand Canyon, and as far as Colorado. In 2005, the Cannon Family borrowed a wagon and competed in the Arizona Nationals Chuckwagon Competition, loved it, and started looking for their own wagon. Purchasing the late 1800's wagon in 2006, they love traveling the country, cooking authentic "cowboy cookin'". The family specializes in cooking the same way as the trail cook would on roundups or on the trail in the late 1800's. The beef, potatoes, beans, biscuits, and cobbler are not just tasty, but a way of life for the Cannons. Bopper is a fourth generation rancher/cowboy and nothing warms his heart more than cooking a good meal for people and then sharing stories about the cowboy way of life. The rest of the family feels the same way. Tickets are on sale now for $20. This event is limited to the first 200 people. Please call the Museum at 928-634-2868 or stop by to obtain tickets, or call Connie 928-300-2448. Also keep in mind the Museum's favorite fund raiser will be coming up November 14, the Zeke Taylor Barbecue.
